About Maddalena Genovese
Maddalena is a compassionate and kind psychologist who feels strongly about empowering her clients. With an empathic, and warm approach she quickly establishes rapport and helps motivate her clients to conquer their symptoms and foster lasting recovery. Maddalena is passionate about practicing psychology from an innovative, non-pathologizing approach and she prides herself in being able to make people feel safe and welcome in her office.
Specializing in the treatment of stress and trauma related disorders, she follows principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and she uses evidence-based treatments like Prolonged Exposure (PE), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and hypnosis to reduce distressing symptoms and improve daily functioning. Starting in 2008, she has helped people recover from PTSD, vicarious trauma, depression, anxiety, fears and phobias, stress management and burnout, relationship issues and dissociative disorder.
As open minded and genuine as they come, she prides herself in recognizing the importance of developing a collaborative and respectful therapeutic relationship and in being sensitive to the particular concerns of sexual and gender minority individuals as well as those impacted by recent and childhood sexual abuse, war and military life.
